E-safety – Avatars

As you all know, when using the internet, at any time, it is important that you ensure that you are using it safely and sensibly.  In Upper School assemblies and lesson, we have been discussing e-safety and safe use of the internet.  One thing that you could do is to help your privacy while online, especially if you are using social networking sites, is to have an avatar.  An avatar is a small cartoon like image of you which you are able to create and then use as your profile picture.  This means that you don’t have to use an actual photograph of yourself for your public profile picture.

So, I have been searching and found this great avatar creator.  The Simpsons movie website allows you to create your own avatar, which you can then download and it will save its self to your computer as a picture file (JPEG)

Give it a go and change your profile pictures to your new created avatar!! Here is mine!

Strictly come Dancing comes to SJL

On Thursday we were lucky enough to have a surprise visit from Ann Widdecombe and Anton Du Beke.  We had heard that they had been rehearsing nearby and year 4 used their amazing literacy skills in persuading them to come to our school.  The whole of Upper School were treated to a special assembly and where Anton and Ann showed us some of their dancing skills.  So keep your eyes out for them tonight, don’t forget to vote for them!!
