SJL @ BETT 2011

Over the next few days pupils from year 6 we will attending the BETT show at Olympia in West Kensington.  SJL has been working with a company called Tribune who have helped to virtualise our school network and make this accessible from home.

Mr Duffy & Sue Hayward attended on the first day with six pupils from 6D.  During the day they have been researching ICT software and hardware.  The first group of children thoroughly enjoyed their day, as you can see in the picture below!

Secondary Information for Year 6 – Attention all Year 6 Parents!!

A quick reminder to all the parents of year 6 pupils.  There will be a Secondary Transfer Meeting on Thursday 24th September at 3.45pm – 4.15pm.  The meeting will be held in the middle hall.  During this meeting, Sue Hayward and Janet will explain the application process and answer any questions you may have.

At the end of last week all year 6 pupils were given a letter, which is to be returned as soon as possible.  On this form, we ask that you indicate your choices for secondary schools.  Also, each child was given the application form for you to apply.

It is very important that when considering which secondary school to choose, you look at the school’s selection criteria.  Also, please remember that you should think about which school suits your child for their needs.

E-Safety

As you are all aware e-safety is very important at SJL for you, your parents and teachers.

So here is a little reminder of the things you need to remember when online;

We only use the internet when an adult is with us.

We can click on the buttons or links when we know what they do.

We can search the Internet with an adult.

We always ask if we get lost on the Internet.

We can send and open emails together.

We can write polite and friendly emails to people that we know.

In addition to this please remember, any children on social networking sites should ensure that their profiles are set to private.  Unfortunately teachers and staff are unable to add pupils and their families as friends.
